Paddy Seeds

India has some of the rarest Paddy Seed varieties. Paddy is one of the major grain of India and India second largest exporter of rice to the world.  Approximately, half of Indian population consumes rice.

Paddy can be cultivated using different methods. But major farmers cultivate paddy seeds in traditional method only.  

There are 3000+ varieties of rice being cultivated in India. Many are rare varieties. Rice is an adaptable crop and can be farmed in a varieties of climate. Rice is the major crop in all states, however, 5 states are producing rice in large volume. West Bengal is the largest producer of rice in India. UP, Andhra Pradesh,
Punjab and Tamil Nadu are following. Basmati rice, red rice, white rice varieties are most demand in India.  India is the second largest exporter of rice to the world. 

Paddy seed required for farming is around 20-30kg/ hectare in transplanting method and 80kg/ hectare in broadcasting method. 

Harvesting period changes depends on the type we are farming. Generally rice can be harvested when rice pod turns yellow and water content below 25%. Harvesting and trashing can be done manually or by machine.
